This essential point of passage between Gaza and Egypt has been closed since Israeli forces took it during an offensive on the southern city, and took control of the Gazaouie part, during the month of May 2024.

It has just been reopened under the ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel on January 15.

The reopening of the Rafah passage point represents a significant advance which strengthens this cease-fire agreement.

Evacuatuions of injured began

At the same time, around thirty children and three injured or sick adults, as well as forty other people accompanying them, were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Egypt in order to receive care.

A hundred other people, probably students, should also be allowed to pass for humanitarian reasons.

This evacuation operation was supervised by the World Health Organization.

According to the WHO official in Gaza and in the occupied territories, Rik PeeperkornWHO estimates that between 12,000 and 14,000 critical patients should be evacuated outside Gaza. So it’s just a start. What we need is medical corridors outside Gaza“. Still according to WHO, the number of children requiring care, and demanding urgent evacuation from the Gaza Strip, is evaluated at 5000.

The operation in Jenine continues

Meanwhile the Israeli army is still in operation in Jénine in occupied West Bank. Launched a fortnight ago, this major offensive called “Steel Wall” is intended according to TSAhal to flush out and eradicate terrorist cells present in the area.

In this photo of the APTN agency, the Israeli army carried out simultaneous explosions of buildings. On Sunday day. According to the latter they were part of a “terrorist infrastructure“.

The operation “Steel Wall” has already caused the death of dozens of people, including civilians, according to Palestinian sources.
