The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced yesterday, Tuesday, that Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital is the only hospital that provides health services to approximately one million people currently in the Strip, and that there is no way to receive new wounded due to the significant shortage of medical supplies and personnel, amid continued bombing in the areas surrounding the hospital.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital spokesman, Khalil Al-Dakran, explained in a press conference that the continuous bombing of the Bureij and Al-Maghazi camps in the middle of the Gaza Strip led to the hospital being filled with wounded people who arrived during the past hours.

Al-Dakran warned that the hospital is unable to provide treatment for more injured people as the bombing continues, noting that the number of wounded exceeds the clinical capacity by more than three times, while patients sleep on the hospital floor and in outdoor tents.

He added that a number of injured people died due to the inability of medical teams to provide the necessary treatment as a result of operating rooms being crowded with extremely difficult injuries.

The hospital spokesman appealed to the international community to introduce field hospitals to control the health situation in the Gaza Strip.

In his conversation with Tel Aviv Tribune, Al-Dakran reported that Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital is full of children suffering from infectious diseases, demanding that medicines and food supplies be delivered to the children to prevent a health catastrophe.

Last May, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that more than 80% of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip had been out of service as a result of Israeli attacks since the beginning of the war on October 7.

The pressure on Gaza Strip hospitals increased with the occupation closing the Rafah crossing since May 7, preventing patients from leaving for treatment abroad or entering medical aid.

The number of martyrs of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for 8 months reached 36,550, while the number of injured reached 82,959, and about 10,000 people are still missing.
