The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, described the condition of the medical staff and patients evacuated by the occupation from Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza as very difficult.
Al-Barsh said – in an interview with Tel Aviv Tribune – that the Israeli occupation deceived the patients and medical staff of Kamal Adwan Hospital, because it took them to the destroyed Indonesian hospital and arrested some of them in an unknown location.
He revealed that a very difficult and harsh night passed for the injured and patients who were forcibly evacuated from Kamal Adwan Hospital to the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, where these patients found no medicine, no water, no electricity, in addition to the extreme cold.
Dr. Al-Barsh accused the occupation of deceiving the medical staff who told him that he would go to the Indonesian hospital, but he took his members to another place and arrested them all, including the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya.
He confirmed that Abu Safiya was severely beaten with batons and sticks by the Israeli occupation forces, who forced him to take off his clothes and dress him as detainees. He revealed that he is now under arrest, and that the occupation has taken him as a human shield.
The occupation forces took Abu Safiya to an area in western Jabalia called Al-Fakhoura, and detained him there with the medical personnel. Dr. Al-Barsh confirms that an officer in the occupation army forced the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital to take off his clothes, and then the soldiers and officers beat him severely, in a tragic and difficult scene. Described by those who were later released.
On the other hand, the Director General of the Ministry of Health confirmed that the Israeli occupation arrested approximately 33 medical personnel inside Kamal Adwan Hospital, including nurses (11), paramedics (4), administrators (7), journalists (2), and approximately 10 cleaning and maintenance workers. In addition to 10 missing persons whose fate is unknown.
He said that he does not have any specific numbers about the people who were burned inside Kamal Adwan Hospital, but there is talk of 4 injured people who caught fire.
The Israeli army stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital, before setting it on fire and putting it completely out of service, and detained more than 350 people who were inside the hospital, including 180 medical personnel and 75 wounded and sick people and their companions, and took them to an unknown destination, according to a statement by the government media office in Gaza.
