Gaza: eight Israeli hostages which were to be released during the first phase died


Hamas has transmitted information on the state of health of the hostages to be released as part of the cease-fire agreement.

Israel announced on Monday that it has received a Hamas list indicating that eight of the 33 hostages were released during the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza died. The list “Coincide with that of Israeli information”according to Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer.

This means that out of the 26 hostages to be released, 18 are still alive. Seven women have already been released, including four soldiers this weekend.

The first phase of the ceasefire agreement began on January 19 and is due to last six weeks.

The next hostage release is to take place on Thursday, followed by another Saturday. About 90 hostages, in total, are still in captivity.

In exchange for hostages, Israel has undertaken to release 1,900 Palestinian prisoners during this first phase.
