After nearly fifteen months of war between Israel and Hamas, the ceasefire comes into force this Sunday morning.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas begins this Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time. The first phase of the agreement provides for the release of 33 Israeli hostages and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Nearly 600 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid and fuel must enter the Gaza Strip every day, according to Egypt, mediator alongside Qatar and the United States.
The aid is stationed at the Rafah border crossing, closed since May by the Israeli army.
This ceasefire may mark the beginning of the end of a terrible war, launched by the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023.
That day, nearly 1,200 people were killed and 250 others taken hostage by the Islamist group.
The Israeli army’s response left more than 46,000 people dead in the Gaza Strip. Among them, senior officials and Hamas fighters but also many civilians.
The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Saturday that 23 people had been killed in the past 24 hours.
Knife attack in Tel Aviv, missiles fired from Yemen
On Saturday, the day before the ceasefire came into force, a knife attack left one person injured in central Tel Aviv. According to Israeli police, the attacker was then “neutralized” by “an armed civilian” who has “opened fire.”
Israel also indicated that it had intercepted two missiles fired from Yemen, before they entered Israeli space.
