Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper confirmed that the Rehabilitation Department in the Israeli occupation army decided to launch a program to help soldiers who suffer from psychological disorders due to the war in Gaza.
The newspaper quoted officials in the rehabilitation department as saying, “Teams will be formed of nurses and psychiatrists who can deal with suicidal tendencies in order to conduct an evaluation of soldiers who suffer from psychological disorders.”
The newspaper added, “The war on Gaza imposes a heavy and unbearable price in lives, physical injuries, and psychological disorders, especially among disabled soldiers of the occupation army.”
Earlier, Israeli reports revealed that 500 Israeli soldiers suffered psychological trauma since the beginning of the occupation’s aggression against Gaza.
Haaretz newspaper said earlier that 500 Israeli soldiers are currently experiencing psychological difficulties and post-traumatic stress disorder, since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Israeli medical sources revealed that occupation soldiers who were injured in the Gaza battles suffer from severe psychological trauma and disturbing nightmares from the horrific scenes of war.
Citing the families of the soldiers, the Hebrew website Walla said last November that the ferocity of the Palestinian resistance caused shocks and unrest for soldiers returning from Gaza.
According to Hebrew reports, hospitals inject psychologically traumatized soldiers with narcotic substances so they can sleep.
dead and wounded
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation army acknowledged the killing of “485 soldiers and officers since the beginning of the war, including 158 killed since the start of the ground operation in Gaza.”
The Israeli army indicated that 189 officers and soldiers were seriously injured in ground operations in the Gaza Strip, 310 sustained moderate injuries, and 327 suffered minor injuries.
However, the Israeli media talks about huge losses that far exceed these numbers, as they say that hospitals are crowded with wounded soldiers, and that cemeteries receive huge numbers of bodies.
Reports indicate the opening of rehabilitation centers for large numbers of soldiers who suffered permanent disabilities as a result of battles. Of these, more than 100 became blind.
