Gaza: 80 unidentified bodies buried in mass grave


80 corpses were brought to a Gaza hospital on Tuesday. The truck carrying them is believed to have entered the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, from Israel.

About a month ago, Israel had already returned 80 Palestinian corpses using the same process. The bodies were collected by the Israeli army in Gaza, before being transferred to Israel for examination. They were brought back to Gaza after confirmation that they were not Israeli hostages.

This Tuesday 80 dead bodies were placed at the Najjar hospital in Rafah, then buried in a mass grave in the city. This is the second time in a few days that mass burials have taken place there.

Eleven dead in Israeli strike

Eleven people died, including four children, after an Israeli strike destroyed a residential building in the town of Deir al-Balah on Tuesday. The survivors were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

UNWRA defends its “vital role” in Gaza

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNWRA has for several days been at the heart of accusations concerning twelve of its employees. These latterwould have actively participated in the Hamas attacks of October 7which left more than 1,200 dead in Israel.

The UN has already dismissed nine of the twelve accused. Two others are believed to have died, and the final person facing charges has yet to be formally identified. The UNWRA, which employs around 13,000 people, has defended the importance of its humanitarian role among Palestinian civilian populations.

On Tuesday, United Nations chief Antonio Guterres met with representatives of countries that have decided to freeze their donations to UNWRA until all light is shed on the events concerned by the recent accusations.

Heavy rains weaken IDP camps

Heavy rains in recent days have damaged the fragile structures of temporary camps in Gaza City.

The conflict makes living conditions extremely difficult in the Gaza Strip, where the population would be on the verge of famine according to the World Food Program.

Nowadays, around 85% of the 2.5 million Palestinians are displacedmainly inside Gaza.

According to Hamas, more than 26,700 Gazans have died since the start of the war on October 7.
