From auto bumps to furniture industry .. Turkish workshops recycle waste Varieties

|

Local factories and workshops are active in recycling old car bumps in Caesarea state in central Turkey, as they are converted into industrial supplies and elegant components used in the furniture industry, such as feet, wheels, handles, and decorations used in sofas and family.

The process begins with the collection of vehicles outside the service due to the end of their shelf life or their lack of eligibility to walk, as scrap dealers in the new industrial zone collects and sort their components.

In the next stage, the inconveniences of reuse are sent to plastic recycling factories in the industrial area of Kaisri, where they are dismantled and broken inside special machines, then they are subject to heat and chemical treatments to convert them into a granular primary material known as “granol”.

This substance is later poured into special molds and exposed to heat, to take the form of the required furniture components, such as the feet of sofas, drawers and some decorative elements.

Export and support for the economy

Youssef Ozkan, the owner of the company “Kaiplas” producing these pieces, head of the Plastic Industrialists Association in Caesarea, and Vice President of the Federation of Plastic Manufacturers in Turkey, said that the recycling of waste and converting them into beneficial products represent national and economic priority.

He explained that Caesarea plays a major role in meeting Turkey’s furniture needs, which motivated the company’s operations to recycle the car manufactured products to serve what the state needs, as well as exporting these components locally and internationally, which contributes “in a concrete manner to support the economy.”

Ozkan indicated that the company exports its products to many countries such as Germany, Italy, Balkan, Iran, Iraq and Bulgaria.

He pointed out that the products manufactured from recycled fenders are used in various types of furniture and industrial products, with the exception of packages that are used to preserve food.

Reducing dependence on import

Ozcan stated that Türkiye depends 85% on importing in securing plastic crude materials, due to the presence of only one petrochemical factory in the country, which makes the recycling a strategic option to reduce this gap.

He continued: “We cover about 40% of our annual consumption of raw materials through recycling. If we do not depend on that, we will have to import the original original material, which means additional financial burdens on the economy.”

He also pointed out that many trademarks, local and international, have become required for their suppliers that products contain no less than 25% of recycled materials, which is also in line with foreign market policies.

At the conclusion of his speech, Ozkan stressed that recycling is not limited to plastic only, but also includes minerals, paper, wood, ceramics, and glass, noting that converting waste into industrial products has become an urgent need to reduce environmental pollution, and support industry and economics.
