French river police have been training on the Seine ahead of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games later this month.

Around 10,000 athletes will parade on more than 90 boats, covering a distance of 6 kilometers.

A large police operation is planned to supervise the event.

Sophie Malherbe, the head of department, explains that this deadline allowed her teams to train beyond the challenges of the Olympic Games:**

We are particularly proud to be able to ensure security on the river for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. We are training for this. Training is not limited to the Olympic Games, it is a long-term process. This is what we do every day. Every morning, the River Brigade devotes itself to training, whether it is piloting, diving or swimming. And all this to be at the top for the opening ceremony, which will take place on the Seine, and then for the nautical events, which we will secure.

The Paris police chief announced the deployment of around 30,000 police officers per day, including armed police, with a peak of 45,000 for the opening ceremony on the Seine.

The police will be supported by around 18,000 members of the army.
