French farmers’ revolt: standards and cost of living are suffocating farmers

In France, farmers begin their second day of blocking strategic routes around Paris this Tuesday, determined to show that they can hold out for several days if the “new measures” unveiled during the day by the government continue to disappoint. What are the underlying reasons for the discontent? Gaelle Fonseca and Clovis went to meet farmers in the French countryside, then went to the Ministry of Agriculture in Paris, and to Brussels, where the common agricultural policy is the subject of much criticism.
