French justice has issued an arrest warrant against Bashar al-Assad.
The Syrian president is accused of complicity in crimes against humanity for the chemical attacks perpetrated in his country in the summer of 2013.
Three other arrest warrants were issued by judges, including one against the president’s brother, Maher al-Assad.
The investigations are being carried out under the “extraterritorial jurisdiction” of French justice and relate to the sarin attacks in Eastern Ghouta.
A thousand people had been killed.
