France: 7 people missing following the passage of the Monica depression


Following the violent weather linked to the passage of storm Monica, six people, including two children, went missing in Gard. A man is also wanted in Ardèche.

This Sunday, the south-east of France was ravaged by severe weather following the passage of depression Monica. Several roads and bridges are flooded.

In the Gard region, six people including two children are missing.

A car, which was carrying three people and two children, was swept away in Dions, while two women were swept away in Goudargues while crossing a submersible bridge.

At the end of the morning, the Ardèche prefecture also reported the disappearance of a man in Saint-Martin-de-Valamas.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin indicated that the vehicles in which his missing people were found were found but not their passengers. He mentioned a total of “ 35 rescues » carried out by the emergency services.

The search continues, 4 helicopters and additional rescuers have been deployed while ten departments have been placed on orange alert for flooding, high water or risk of submersion.
