They headed to the Olympic Village.
With less than a week to go before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, athletes and members of their support staff flocked to Paris airport terminals on Monday.
Maria Luisa Doig Calderon, a Peruvian fencer, will participate as her country’s flag bearer. She can barely hide her excitement.
“Of course, it’s a dream come true. We’ve practiced so much. I’ve been playing for 28 years, so yes, these are my third games and what an excitement!”
As for Kirsty Gilmour, a seasoned British athlete, she has more than one trick up her sleeve to ease the stress while waiting for her first badminton match.
“I brought my pillow and candle from home. The Olympic Village is very strict so I wanted a familiar environment.”
Join us this Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the opening ceremony.
