Luis Moreno Ocampo discusses the International Criminal Court’s requests for arrest warrants against Israeli and Hamas leaders.

As Israel’s war on Gaza continues to rage, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The prosecutor, Karim Khan, took the same measures against three Hamas leaders.

If the arrest warrants are granted, the five men will no longer be able to set foot in an ICC signatory country without risking arrest. Israel and Hamas condemned the demands.

The Court has long been criticized for only going after leaders of countries in the South. So does this decision indicate that it is now ready to pursue Western powers and their close allies?

This week on In the frontMarc Lamont Hill speaks with the ICC’s first chief prosecutor, Luis Moreno Ocampo, about the implications of the arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders.
