In Portugal, at least 14 people, including 11 firefighters, were injured following a fire that broke out on Sunday in Cascais near Lisbon. Fanned by strong sea winds, the fire is still not under control, but authorities believe it will be on Tuesday. More than 250 firefighters are on the scene.

In North Macedonia, the fire on Mount Serta in the south of the country is causing the most concern. It has now spread over more than 30km, making the work of firefighters complicated. At the height of the crisis that began two weeks ago, following an unprecedented heatwave, around thirty fires broke out. Today, seven are still active. Neighbouring countries have sent reinforcements, and around a hundred soldiers are also taking part in the operations.

Finally, in Bulgaria, efforts to extinguish fires in the Bolyarovo region in the south-east of the country have been ongoing for almost a week.

Containers intended for the temporary accommodation of disaster victims and the most deprived have been deployed.

The fire affected approximately 7,300 hectares of land and destroyed many homes.
