Floods in Saintes for the third time in recent months, orange alert in force


Charente-Maritime is now on orange alert for floods, after Pas-de-Calais and Gironde. The town of Saintes, on the banks of the Charente, finds itself flooded for the third time in a few months.

In Saintes, the Charente river bursts its banks again. Impossible to circulate in the streets without beams. The flood is expected to peak on Friday, when the water level is expected to rise to 5.85 meters. Up to 200 homes could be flooded.
