The Italian government has announced plans to provide €20 million to the Emilia-Romagna region after floods devastated the area. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the money would be disbursed as soon as the region’s declaration of a state of emergency reaches the government.

Heavy rains and flooding have forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 people.

The bad weather has also affected other European countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic. In the Klodzko region of Poland, the army and local population are continuing their clearing and cleaning operations in the affected municipalities. The Polish Prime Minister said that his country will need a billion euros to cope with the scale of this disaster.

In the Czech Republic, houses in Krnov became uninhabitable after water reached a height of more than 2 metres.

In other communities affected by the disaster, work has also begun to clean streets and houses ravaged by water and mud.

Floods in Europe have reportedly killed 24 people, and the EU has pledged billions of euros in emergency relief funds. The toll from the storms will be a significant impact on the economy of the countries concerned.
