The heavy rainfall that has hit Europe in recent weeks has once again caused significant damage in several EU countries.

In Germany : the southern states of the country – Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg – also have their feet in water after incessant rains which caused the flooding of several rivers, causing devastation and leaving at least five dead. Authorities are still searching for a missing firefighter. In the city of Passau, footage showed rescuers navigating flooded streets as they helped those affected by the floods. Markus Söder, Minister President of the State of Bavaria, announced that the state government would provide at least 100 million euros in financial aid for disaster victims.

In Austria : navigation on the Danube was closed due to flooding caused by heavy rains in the country. The Danube crosses Austria for almost 350 kilometers. Many roads had to be closed in many localities and the population was asked to evacuate the areas most exposed to rising waters. However, experts expect the situation to improve soon.

Poland : if the situation tends to improve in Germany, this is not yet the case in Poland which has started to report flooding after heavy rainfall. The town of Bielsko-Biala in Silesia was flooded. Many roads, properties and buildings were flooded and damaged.
