The meeting takes place in Beijing.

The President of the Commission recalls the importance of trade with China, but regrets the “imbalances”: in two years the trade deficit between the EU and China has doubled to reach 390 billion euros in 2022.

Ukraine is the other main topic of discussion at the summit.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, China has called for respect for the territorial integrity of all countries while never condemning Moscow.
