Fire teams continue their efforts to control a series of forest fires in the Syrian coast for the tenth day in a row, while specialized teams from Qatar and Iraq arrived in regional coordination described as the largest years in the face of this type of disasters.

The fires erupted in rugged and far -far points within the coastal mountains of Latakia, in particular, and have so far destroyed at least 15 thousand hectares of forests and agricultural lands, in one of the largest waves of fires that the Syrian coast has witnessed for years.

The Emergency Operations Room in Lattakia confirmed that large areas of the northern Latakia countryside and Mount Al -Nisr are still witnessing active fire foci with the extension of the fires of the Kassab area on the Syrian -Turkish border.

A source in the civil defense said that the firefighting teams managed to control the foci of fires on the Kastal Ma’af Kassab road, despite the great difficulties due to the waste of war, mines, and the roughness of the firefighting areas. He explained that the firefighting operations included the isolation of areas and the opening of fire lines in the forests to enable the teams to reach the fiery outposts while continuing to support the aircraft in extinguishing operations to prevent the expansion of fire.

Mazen Alloush, Director of Public Relations at the General Authority of Land and Navy Ports, announced the closure of the Kassab border crossing in Lattakia countryside temporarily from the Turkish side due to the fires that are in the Mountains of the Sahel, while renewed on the axes of Zahia, Al -Franal and the spring of Al -Murr near the wind, despite the efforts of more than 150 firefighters and 16 of Syria and supportive countries.

The arrival of a Qatari team

Aleppo International Airport arrived today, Saturday, a Qatari field team that includes more than 100 people from the Qatari civil defense teams “Lekhwiya”, as well as Qatari teams of international research and rescue, air forces and composer of 35 people concerned with operating and managing air operations, in addition to a specialized medical team.

The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority said that the State of Qatar sent a batch of aid that included 3 out of 6 aircraft carrying land and air aid that includes two air force helicopters in the Qatari Ministry of Defense, which are allocated to firefighting, in addition to a number of firefighting, ambulances and logistical support equipment.

The Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al -Saleh, valued the noble humanitarian participation of the State of Qatar in putting out fires in Syria. He said in a post on the “X” platform that this contribution reflects the depth of fraternal ties between the Syrian and Qatari peoples.

Participation from Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey

Wild and air teams from Türkiye, Jordan and Lebanon participate in carrying out extinguishing fires in the framework of joint coordination to confront the disaster.

Saleh stressed that the firefighting teams operate in all the methods and tactics adopted in extinguishing forest fires, whether through insulation or the creation of firearms or pre -emptive insulation. Adding: We have experts, operations leaders and cadres who have great field experience in addition to the participating teams from Turkey and Jordan and close to Iraq, noting that the presence of mines, the remnants of the defunct regime, the strength of the wind speed, change their direction, and the movements of sparks for distances exceeding hundreds of meters; Moderate mission.

Last night, the Civil Defense showed that the extinguishing operations are taking place on 3 basic axes, to confront the spread of fire in the northern Latakia forests, a bright tower, the Franks forests, and the Naba Al -Murr area near the city of Kassab, which is the most difficult axes in the work.
