Film Israeli-Palestinian No other land wins Oscar for the best documentary | News Israel-Palestine Conflict

The collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers has triumphed over the war in porcelain, sugar cane, black sound newspapers and soundtrack at a coup.

No other land, a film about the Palestinians fighting to protect their houses from demolition by the Israeli soldiers, won the Oscar for the best documentary feature.

The collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers triumphed on Sunday on the war in porcelain, sugar cane, sound newspapers and soundtrack at a coup.

The film, produced between 2019 and 2023, follows activist Basel Adra while risking an arrest to document the destruction of his hometown, Masafer Yatta, whom Israeli soldiers destroy to be used as a military training zone, at the southern tip of the western shore.

Adra’s pleadings fall into the ears of a deaf until he became friends with a Jewish-Israeli journalist, Yuval Abraham, who helps him to amplify his story.

Accepting the price, Adra said that no other land reflects the harsh reality that Palestinians have lasted for decades.

“About two months ago, I became a father, and my hope for my daughter that she will not have to live the same life that I live now, still fearing the colonists, violence, demolitions at home and the forced trips that my community lives and tasting every day under Israeli occupation,” said Adra.

He also called on the world to “take serious measures to stop injustice and stop ethnic cleaning of the Palestinian people”.

‘Together, our voices are stronger’

Abraham said they had made the film because together, their voices were stronger.

“We see ourselves: the atrocious destruction of Gaza and its inhabitants which must end. Israeli hostages, suddenly taken in crime of October 7, which must be released, “he said.

Abraham criticized the Israeli regime which destroys Adra’s life and said that there is a different path, a “political solution without ethnic supremacy, with national rights for the two peoples”.

But the United States’s foreign policy helps to block this path, he said.

“Do you not see that we are intertwined – that my people can really be safe if Basel’s people are really free and safe?” There is another way. It is not too late for life for the living. There is no other way, “he added.

The film had a hard time finding a distributor in the United States, so its manufacturers arranged to make a week-long race at Lincoln Center in November in order to qualify for tonight’s Oscars.

The Oscar on Sunday is the last high -level honor that no other land has acquired. He also won the Public Prize and the Documentary Prize in Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024, as well as the New York Film Critics Circle Award for the best non-fiction film.

The film depends strongly on the images of camcorder of the personal archives of Adra. He captures Israeli soldiers in Bulldozer the village school and filling cement water wells to prevent people from rebuilding.

He shows that the residents gathered after Adra filmed an Israeli soldier who turns a local man who protests against the demolition of his house. The man becomes paralyzed and his mother has trouble taking care of him while living in a cave.

More than 500,000 settlers live in the occupied West Bank, which houses around three million Palestinians.

The settlers have Israeli citizenship while the Palestinians live under a military regime with the Palestinian authority administering population centers.

The main human rights groups have described the situation like apartheid, an allegation rejected by the Israeli government, which considers the West Bank as the historic and biblical heart of the Jewish people and is opposed to the Palestinian State.
