500,000 Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip (i.e. a quarter of the residents of the Strip), the stage of food inception, that is, the stage of starvation, while Israel does not provide safe passages to deliver aid to people, according to the regional representative of the United Nations Food Organization (Faw) Abdel -Hakim Al -Waer.

According to what Al -Waer said in an interview with Al -Jazeera, the partial opening of Israel is partially to enter about 100 aid trucks per day compared to at least 600 trucks that must be entered, “not enough and much less than what the sector needs after tightening the siege for a full 4 months.”

Even this little that enters cannot be distributed because the aid is dispersed in different areas and the transportation process is not safe with evidence that relief workers were killed while distributing aid to people.

Women and children represent the most targeted group of starvation practiced by Israel, as Al -Waer said, stressing that the aid that enters from the Kerem Abu Salem crossing can never be distributed inside the sector due to the absence of safe passages.

Important ways

And it is not possible for the measures that Israel currently provides to save the people of Gaza from the tragic situation they live, because opening the crossings alone is not sufficient, because what is required is to secure the distribution of aid, otherwise it is not possible to talk about providing relief to people.

The starvation of the Palestinians in Gaza as a result of the Israeli blockade and the US -backed annihilation war reached unprecedented levels in recent times, according to local and international reports, as deaths increased due to malnutrition and drought, and the total number reached 154 martyrs, including 89 children, according to the Ministry of Health in the sector.

93 democratic deputies wrote a letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which they confirmed that the delivery of aid to the Palestinians in a safe and effective way represents a moral commitment and a necessity for Israel’s security.

During the past few days, US President Donald Trump acknowledged in a series of statements that the situation in Gaza was “terrible”, stressing that “children are starving” and pledging to deliver aid to the Strip.

But Trump indicated at the same time that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – who is required for the International Criminal Court for war crimes – wants to oversee food distribution centers.
