As Russian bombing intensifies on the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine, families with children are being evacuated in several districts, for the second time after November 2023.
Due to the intensification of shelling in the Kharkiv region, the forced evacuation of families with children was extended to 18 villages of the Velykoburluksk and Vilkhuvatka communities of the Kupiansk region. This decision was taken by the Regional Defense Council on March 7.
This is the second forced evacuation of families with children in the Kharkiv region. As of November 2023, 300 children had already been evacuated, along with at least one adult parent, in five communities in the Kupiansk district, on the left bank of the Oskol River.
This Friday, a mandatory evacuation was announced in 57 localities in the communities of Velykoburluksk, Vilkhuvatka, Kindrashivka and Kurylivsk.
Six people were injured in a nighttime Russian attack on Chuhuiv after an S300 missile hit the ground in the center of the city, damaging three high-rise buildings and two houses. One of the injured is a displaced person. She and her family live in a rented apartment.
“Four people were injured by shards of glass. A woman and a child were also injured. The child, aged 3 years and 7 months, injured by a shard of glass (…) was treated on the spot “, explains Ihor Shepelev, deputy head of the military administration of the city of Chuhuiv.
The shock wave also broke the windows and roof of the shopping center. The city’s central water supply system was cut off, leaving 2,500 people without water, or a third of the city. Utilities plan to restore the water main by midday Saturday, while awaiting replacement parts from Kharkiv.
