As 2023 draws to a close, the Qatar 365 team looks back at some of their favorite moments of the year, starting with unforgettable dining experiences. Laila Humairah tried and enjoyed South Korean barbecue while understanding the reasons for its growing popularity. Aadel Haleem, for his part, took part in a gastronomic tour with Rachel Morris, local food blogger.

Local traditions preserved

In recent months, the team has discovered ancient traditions popular in Qatar: Laila Humairah met a weaver Sadu who keeps this craft alive by teaching it to future generations.

Charlotte Dubenskij embarked on an excursion off the coast of the peninsula in the company of one of Qatar’s last natural pearl fishermen, who that day had the chance to find a precious example at the bottom of the sea. Aadel Haleem met a Qatari falconer who passes on his passion and knowledge to his sons.

From cultures elsewhere to subcultures

Qatar 365 is rich in diverse cultural experiences. The “Year of Cultures” program took place earlier in the year. Laila Humairah was able to attend an exceptional Indonesian theater performance entitled “Hayati”.

Subcultures were also on the agenda this year, as Aadel discovered while attending a unique trade show called Geekend. This biannual event brings together gamers, anime fans and cosplayers under one roof.
