Expo 2023 Doha: making deserts greener


Qatar 365 introduces you to Expo 2023 Doha. 80 countries participate in this six-month international horticultural exhibition. On the theme “A greener desert, a better environment”, participants present innovative and sustainable solutions to combat desertification.

In this episode, Qatar 365 travels to Expo 2023 Doha, an international horticultural exhibition organized over six months which welcomes no less than 80 countries. Although the project was launched more than 50 years ago, it is the first time that a country with a desert climate has organized a global event on this theme.

Expo 2023 Doha takes place in Al Bidda Park in Doha which covers an area of ​​1.7 million square meters. The theme chosen this year is “A green desert, a better environment”. Our reporter Aadel Haleem takes stock of some of the latest developments in agriculture, sustainability and the environment.

Our visit begins at the Japan pavilion, where the world-famous and emblematic bonsai of this country are presented. It continues with the impressive Italian pavilion where we discover incredible hydroponic gardens.

Mohammed Ali Al-Khouri, Secretary General of Expo 2023 Doha, explains how all participating countries are working together to develop innovative solutions to address the world’s agricultural and environmental challenges, particularly in desert climates .

Finally, our reporter Laila Humairah presents the Qatari pavilion to us. As the host country of the 2023 Horticultural Expo, Qatar has pulled out all the stops to impress.
