Political experts and analysts unanimously agreed that the new American proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza represents a full coup against the agreement reached with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Doha, which puts the negotiating process in a new dilemma.
According to the expert in Israeli affairs, Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, this proposal presented by the American envoy Steve Witkev responds to most of the Israeli interests.
Mustafa stressed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants this deal, because it liberates Israel from international pressure and gives him half of the living and dead prisoners.
On Thursday, the Israeli government agreed to the US envoy’s proposal regarding the ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners in Gaza, while the Hamas movement is studying, amid assurances from Israeli media that the new proposal is more attempted to Tel Aviv than previous proposals.
Al -Jazeera Net obtained detailed information about the new American proposal, and this is the most prominent of it:
- Duration: A 60 -day ceasefire, and President Trump guarantees Israel’s commitment to a ceasefire during the agreed period.
- The release of the hostages: 10 Israeli hostages and 18 deadly hostages, from the “58 hostage” list, which are to be released in the first and seventh days.
- Half of the hostages and the deceased (5 neighborhoods and 9 deceased) will be released on the first day of the agreement, while the remaining half of the hostages (5 neighborhoods and 9 deceased) will be released on the seventh day.
- Humanitarian aid: Aid will be sent to Gaza as soon as Hamas agrees to the ceasefire agreement.
- Any agreement on the aid provided to the civilian population will be respected for the duration of the agreement.
Vasive texts
For his part, the researcher in political and strategic affairs, Saeed Ziyad, stressed that the new proposal blows all the items of the previous agreement, and includes ambiguous and vague texts, so that the proposal guarantees Israel to take half of the prisoners and then become divorced.
Ziad explained that the new Wittakouf proposal is the third proposal that he presents, and it is supposed to be a supplement to the paper he agreed with with Hamas in Doha, but he surprised everyone by presenting a completely new paper.
For his part, the chief researcher at the American Council for Gulf Policy, Dr. James Romance, tried to justify the matter by saying that “what happened is due to misfortune between the negotiator who was dealing with Hamas and the negotiator who deals with Israel.”
Regarding the internal pressure in Israel, Mustafa explained that Netanyahu still has some work to persuade his right -wing partners of the importance of this deal, especially in two central issues: the introduction of humanitarian aid and the duration of the truce that reached 60 days.
For his part, Israeli writer and political researcher Joav Stern indicated that without the two ministers in the Smutrich and Etamar Bin Ghaffir, there will be no government of Netanyahu, and he explained that they reject partial solutions, which causes Netanyahu to manipulate all directions.
Solution opportunities
Regarding the chances of a solution, Ziad stressed that the decision that stops the war in the White House and not in Tel Aviv, “and the American does not yet have a firm decision to stop this war and pressure Israel.”
As for Romance, he saw that as long as there is no clear American claim to Netanyahu to stop the war, he will not make this decision, because the continuation of the war guarantees him to remain in political life.
Ziad described the proposal as “catastrophic with distinction”, and grants Netanyahu a deal on a plate of gold in which he gets 10 and a half prisoners, gets rid of European pressure, then returns to the attack on Gaza with full force.
He stressed that Netanyahu is clearly talking about a five -year plan “the release of the prisoners, then the end of Hamas rule, then the gathering of weapons, then the displacement, and finally the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.”
