European elections: what voters want and what candidates promise


As the June vote approaches, Euronews asks voters to name a proposal they would make if elected to the European Parliament, and questions candidates on what they pledge to do if elected or re-elected.

In this episode Euronews interviews a citizen and a candidate about businesses. Julian at 25, this Italian lives in Vienna and wants more democracy in the workplace. If he were a candidate, Julian would “campaigning for a directive that would create strong works councils across the European Union, so that workers are not only listened to, but also allowed to have their say“.

Fabio De Masi is a candidate for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance. If he is elected, he intends to commit to corporate taxation and make “companies like Amazon responsible, forcing them to pay their taxes and often not less than 1% tax on their profits“. He also wants to tax financial flows to tax havens.
