In this episode, Euronews interviews a citizen and a candidate. Andre De Sousa Marques is the co-founder of ATIVA.te, an association of young Portuguese people who strive to pave the way for a more inclusive and democratic society. If he were elected as a Member of the European Parliament, he would strive “to make every voice heard, especially that of young people”. He pleads in favor of policies that encourage civic education, participation and opportunities for young people in decision-making processes, because together we can help build a better future for the European Union.”

The 26-year-old German candidate, Lina Johnsenwish “more democracy” if she is elected MEP. According to her, “It is not enough to vote every four years. We need to come together as a society and have the confidence and assurance that the proposals will be implemented, that we have a say and that the interests of a many people are superior to the interests of a few.
