India’s six-week general election ended this weekend.

This election is seen by many as a referendum on the decade in power of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the head of the Hindu nationalist party, the BJP.

If Modi wins, which early indications may be, he will be the second Indian leader to retain power for a third term, after Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first-ever prime minister, from 1947 to 1964.

The results are expected to be announced on Tuesday.

Note that 33 people died in polling stations due to the heat which sometimes exceeded 50 degrees in recent days in India
