Special for Tel Aviv Tribune Net- Egypt is close to joining the project to develop the Turkish ghost of the fifth generation “Qen”, one of the most prominent defense projects for Turkey, which is expected to compensate for preventing it from having the “F-35” plane by American decision, after purchasing the S-400 air defense system from Russia.

Tactical Report – a specialist in the intelligence reports of defense, energy and geopolitical issues in the Middle East and North Africa – monitored the beginning of the Egyptian desire, during the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi to Turkey in September last year, which expressed interest in the combat plane developed by the Turkish Air and Space Industries Company (Tai), and after that An Egyptian military team examined the initial model of the plane expected to enter the service in 2030.

According to the specialized “Arab Defense site”, it is likely that a memorandum of understanding will be signed at the end of 2025, which is established for the partnership and Egypt’s accession to the “Qen” development program and its role in it, in addition to the Egyptian authorities that will participate in the program.

Convergery ideas and fears

The two countries share the vision of technological independence in the field of defense industries, as well as their fears of Israeli air superiority, especially after the 12 -day Israeli -Iranian war, and the Turkish Intelligence Academy prompted warning against this superiority and recommending the development of air capabilities.

The two countries also tend to diversify the sources of weapons, away from the complexities of US arms deals. After Turkey purchased the Russian S-400 system, it has completed an agreement to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft from Germany, which is the plane competing for the F-35 aircraft.

As for Egypt, it went to the east towards China through joint maneuvers with it under the name “Eagles of Civilization” last April, during which Beijing reviewed a wide range of weapons, where the KG 500 reconnaissance planes and “C10” aircraft that topped the headlines after defeating the French “Rafale” aircraft during the Pakistani Indian war.

Despite Beijing, and by the Ministry of Defense spokesman, the reports that spoke about the sale of “J10 C” aircraft to Cairo, the failure of the Russian Su-35 aircraft deal, may make the Chinese models a discussion idea and then the investigation.

Specifications that meet ambition

It appears that the idea of the Egyptian partnership in the program of developing the Turkish plane “Qen” came after examining Egyptian expert teams for this plane, which has capabilities that make it azaging an addition to the Egyptian Air Force.

The plane, according to the “SAVUNMATR” website, has super capabilities in the martial methods of Joe-J and the Earth, which helps in imposing weather domination and causes accurate strikes at a speed of the speed of sound of up to 1.8 Mach, in addition to the artificial intelligence combat capabilities.

“Qen” also has the ability to engage and drone fighting, a driving and control center, as it possesses all the capabilities of the Fifth Generation Fifth Fighter aircraft, including high flying speed, a high ability to maneuver, as well as low radar concealment.

Requests for purchasing and promising market

The “Qen” plane conducted a first experimental flight on February 21, 2024, which lasted 13 minutes, and was able to reach an altitude of 8,000 feet and a speed of 230 knots. On May 6 of the same year, the second experiment was conducted and the plane was able to fly for 14 minutes and reached a height of 10,000 feet and a speed of 230 knots.

The success of these flights and continuous work to develop their models and enter the service in 2030, Indonesia to anticipate the purchase of 48 Turkish Fifth Generation aircraft on the sidelines of the 17th International Defense Industries Exhibition “Idf 2025” in Istanbul.

Turkey is also seeking to export it to other countries at competitive prices compared to the F -35 fighters and with less complex conditions, and at the internal level the Turkish Air Force will use 250 aircraft according to the Arab Defense site, and Turkey will enter the Fifth Generation Manufacturers Club that includes the United States, China and Russia.
