In the last two elections, the winning candidate in Pennsylvania was elected to the White House.
Two weeks before the presidential election, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are crisscrossing Pennsylvania in the hope of snatching the last decisive votes in the race for the White House.
With just under thirteen million inhabitants and 19 electors, Pennsylvania could well hold the key to success and choose who will be the 47th president of the United States.
Berwood Yost, polling director at Franklin & Marshall College: “Pennsylvania is a state that voted for Trump in 2016 and for Biden in 2020. There are a lot of white working-class voters. So there are large urban centers and rural communities, then, Pennsylvania is a kind of microcosm of the country as a whole, in many ways.
In 2020, Joe Biden won the election in Pennsylvania and, in 2016, it was Donald Trump who won and each time, the result was close.
The winner of the last two presidential elections in this state won by a few tens of thousands of votes.
Brian Neel, Chester County, PA voter: “I think the distribution is pretty balanced right now. Half of my friends are voting for Kamala and the other half are voting for Trump. So if that’s any indication, I think it’s a pretty close race here. »
Jodi Eichler-Levine, voter from Upper Macungie Township, PA: “Pennsylvania is such a close state that it will literally be a question on Election Day whether it’s raining or sunny. Is the sun shining? And who is knocking on doors and who is most enthusiastic about their candidate and going to the polls for them.”
As was the case for the candidates in the two previous presidential elections, polls show Kamala Harris and Donald Trump tied in Pennsylvania and the election will perhaps be decided here by a few thousand votes.
