Evacuation orders
In the same context, Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said that the military operations in Rafah are continuing and do not appear to be limited, noting the displacement of about 900,000 people from the Rafah Governorate and from northern Gaza as well, that is, about 40% of the population of Gaza, during the two weeks. The last two. He added that 75% of the Strip’s area is subject to Israeli evacuation orders.
Dujarric considered that military operations in Rafah are continuing in various forms, and people are constantly forced to flee, and there is no safe place, stressing that this has a “catastrophic impact on civilians, and also complicates our humanitarian operations.”
The UN Security Council held an open session to discuss the situation in Rafah, as warnings rose about the repercussions of any Israeli military operation there. During the session, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wensland, expressed his fear that the worst would happen if negotiations between Israel and Hamas were not resumed.
For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that more than 810,000 people were forced to flee Rafah during the past two weeks, noting that there is no safe place in Gaza, and every time people are displaced in search of security, their lives are in danger.
