A wave of Israeli air strikes has struck several camps for the Palestinians moved through the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, killing dozens of people, according to the Civil Defense of the Enclave.
The spokesman for the Mahmud Bassal agency said that Israel’s objectives overnight included several tents in the Al-Mawasi region of the southern city of Khan Younis.
“At least 16 martyrs (were killed), most women and children and 23 others were injured following a direct strike of two Israeli missiles on several tents household families in the Al-Mawasi region of Khan Younis,” Bassal told the AFP news agency.
The Al-Mawasi region has been designated by Israel as a so-called “humanitarian zone”.
Seven other people were killed during an attack on tents in the northern city of Beit Lahiya, while another attack near the Al-Mawasi region killed a father and his child who lived in a tent, said Bassal.
