This conversation was to mark Donald Trump’s big return to the social network X, formerly Twitter, from which he had been banned after the assault on the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021.

But the conversation between the two billionaires started 40 minutes late. It was impossible for Internet users to connect to “Spaces”, the conversation space, at the time of the meeting.

X’s owner reported a cyber attack.

“There appears to be a massive attack on X. We are working to resolve the issue. In the worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and publish the conversation later,” he wrote about X.

After the technical problem was resolved, Donald Trump backtracked on his assassination attempt. “It is an act of God, a miracle”the former president said.

Other topics were also discussed by the two billionaires during the conversation, which lasted two hours: economy, immigration, international crises.

The former president, for example, promised to organize “the largest deportation in history” from the United States. Elon Musk’s response: “We have people flocking in like a (…) zombie apocalypse” took place.

Donald Trump has said that US President Joe Biden is responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. According to him, Russia would never have invaded the country if Joe Biden had not been in office.

He claimed that his “solid” relationship with Putin could have prevented the conflict, saying he even told Putin not to act.

“I got on very well with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and he respected me” he told Musk, adding: “We were talking about Ukraine. It was the apple of his eye. But I told him not to do it.”.

The boss of X, Tesla and Space X, who supports Donald Trump’s candidacy for the White House, said he wanted to organize a similar conversation with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

Before the conversation, he had received a warning from European Commissioner Thierry Breton, reminding him that the moderation obligations applied to all X users, “including yourself”he wrote to him.
