President Donald Trump and his predecessor Barack Obama want the same things in the Middle East, argues that Steven Cook, principal researcher at the Council of Foreign Relations: “disentangling the United States of his foreign adventures”.
Cook told the host Steve Clemons that Trump wants an agreement with Iran and could put pressure on Israel to put an end to his war against Gaza before her travel project in the Gulf region next month.
There is a “confidence deficit” between Trump and Israeli chief Benjamin Netanyahu, adds Cook, which is why Trump told Netanyahu to be “reasonable” concerning Syria and the president of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
