The “MSF” – Khamis – the British government called for the closure of the refugee shelter center “Wittsfeld” immediately, and to end the policy of collective detention for asylum seekers.

The organization urged the government to accommodate asylum seekers in decent and safe places within society, and to ensure the provision of specialized psychological support for asylum seekers in the United Kingdom.

These demands come after a new report by the organization showed that people residing at the mass detention site in “Wittfeld” in the United Kingdom suffer from severe psychological stress.

The report emphasized that the British government is still using the “Wittfield” site for residence for asylum seekers, despite the promises it made to end its use.

The organization also stressed the need to ensure that there are clear and transparent protection paths before the opening of any residential site managed by the British Ministry of the Interior.

She called for “opening new, safe roads and expanding the current roads, so that safety seekers can reach the United Kingdom.”

The call to end what was called the “collective detention” policy of asylum seekers, and the adoption of decent and safe places within societies.

The Doctors Without Borders Organization in partnership with the “Doctors of the World” organization supervised the management of a mobile public health care clinic outside the main gate of the former Royal Air Force base in “Wittsfeld” in the United Kingdom for more than a year, in which it documented how the isolated site that accommodates about 800 men between the ages of 18 and 65 years causes them severe damage.

The report, which was based on medical data and interviews with men detained in “Wittfield” in 2024, stopped at the psychological pressure of patients and concerns related to protection at the lonely site.

The organization recorded that the majority of people are among the sick detainees who visited the mobile clinic from Iran, Eritrea and Afghanistan in addition to Syria and Sudan.
