The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, said that the Israeli occupation army killed his son because he was presenting a humanitarian message, and that he buried his son next to the hospital wall.
Abu Safiya could not control himself, and his tears flowed – in an interview with Tel Aviv Tribune Live – when remembering his martyred son, expressing the deep pain he feels as a result of his loss amid the painful events taking place in the northern Gaza Strip.
He added, “We lost everything in this hospital, even our children. They burned our hearts for the hospital and killed our children before our eyes because we carry a humanitarian message, and we bury them with our own hands.”
On Friday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the Israeli army had stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, and arrested hundreds of patients, wounded, and medical staff, while the World Health Organization said that it had lost contact with this hospital.

Abu Safiya pointed out that the hospital now operates with only two doctors, saying, “I and another colleague are trying to provide services, but we lack the necessary medical staff, especially in the field of surgery, which makes us unable to provide the required care.”
He added that the number of wounded is constantly increasing, as the injured are losing their lives due to the lack of the necessary medical capabilities. He called on the international community to open humanitarian corridors to bring in medical personnel and equipment necessary to rescue the wounded.
He also appealed to him to introduce ambulances to transport patients between hospitals, saying, “The health system is completely collapsed, and we cannot describe the conditions we witnessed after the Israeli army stormed the hospital.”
Abu Safiya stressed that the situation in the hospital requires urgent international intervention, as all medical resources have become non-existent. He also called for the release of detainees from the medical staff and the provision of international protection, noting that the hospital suffered significant damage.
