The celebrations of Eid al-Adha were not absent in Gaza, despite the tragic circumstances and the threat of death at any moment due to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Strip for 9 months, during which Israel destroyed most of the Strip’s mosques.

Despite all these circumstances, the Gazans held Eid prayers on the ruins of destroyed mosques, in hospitals, and in any square in which the blessed Eid al-Adha prayer could be performed, from the north to the south of the Strip.

As the Eid al-Adha sun rose, Gazans began publishing pictures of them performing Eid prayers and celebrating. The activist Yasser, a resident of Gaza, posted pictures with the people of his neighborhood and commented on them by saying: “Eid prayer from our neighborhood, on the ruins of the neighborhood’s destroyed mosque. These are some of what remains of its youth. They faced fire, hunger and loss.

Yasser added, “Missing from this annual photo are many martyrs whom we know by name, and dozens of prisoners whose conditions in prison we do not know about. The Eid will be real, oh brave youth of our neighborhood.”

Writer Jihad Helles published a picture of himself with his children during Eid prayers and wrote, “From Eid prayers in Gaza and despite the wounds, we say to you, Happy New Year.”

As for Doctor Muhammad, he said in a blog post, “Finally a joyful picture from the morning of Eid in Gaza,” and he published a picture of himself with Aboud Battah, “the most powerful journalist in the world.”

The people of Gaza are not the only ones who offered congratulations and blessings to the Arab and Islamic nation. The Omani doctor Hani Al-Qadi, who works in Gaza as part of a medical team, published his picture with the medical team and patients from inside the hospital, and wrote, “Happy New Year to all of you from the pure land of Gaza.”

The Israeli war on Gaza left more than 122,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
