The Israeli occupation’s targeting of a pregnant Palestinian woman in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip sparked widespread condemnation on social media, and tweeters asked about the role of human rights organizations regarding what is happening in Gaza.

A video clip showed a pregnant Palestinian woman lying on the ground in Jabalia camp, after she was injured by an Israeli attack in her back, and she was crying out for help.

After the ambulance teams arrived to rescue the pregnant woman, another Israeli attack occurred on the Jabalia Preparatory School for Girls, near the ambulance.

The “Shabakat” program continued at Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, where the pregnant woman was treated there, and hospital officials explained that the woman was Mai Al-Rantisi, and that she had received treatment, and her condition became stable.

This woman is one of 49,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip currently, and the United Nations says that 17,000 pregnant women are on the brink of famine.

The scarcity of pre- and post-natal care has exacerbated the risks of miscarriage and deaths during childbirth.

Tweeters on social media denounced the occupation army’s targeting of the pregnant woman in Jabalia. Some of their comments were recorded on the episode (10/16/2024) of the “Shabakat” program.

Blix says: “In Jabalia, the terrorist Israeli army targeted a pregnant woman. She could not move. There cannot be anything more terrorist than the entity of Israel in our history.”

Anna wondered about the role of human rights organizations, saying, “Where did the human rights organizations disappear? All slogans of humanity have evaporated. Woe to us and this world from the wrath of God.”

In the same context, Youssef tweeted, saying, “A pregnant woman was targeted and those who tried to save her life and the life of the fetus in her womb were targeted. Where are the human rights, children’s and women’s rights organizations, and what is happening in the entire sector?”

As for Izla, she said: “They – the Israelis – have an unnatural hatred for everyone, especially children and pregnant mothers.”

It should be noted that under international humanitarian law, pregnant women fall within the category of wounded, sick and infirm who receive special protection and respect in times of war, and these are the most fragile and vulnerable groups.
