Leaders of the Democratic Party in the US House of Representatives called on President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza through urgent work with all parties to resume negotiations.

Democratic leaders said in a joint message to President Trump that the war in Gaza has reached a deep humanitarian crisis and geopolitical stability, and stressed that the continuation of the Gaza war warns of exacerbation of regional tension and humanitarian catastrophe.

The signatories on the letter explained that Gaza residents suffer from hunger and they desperately need a significant increase in aid, and they urged Trump to use “the full weight of American diplomacy to achieve an immediate, fair and permanent end to the conflict.

Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives expressed their belief that the basic military targets of the war in Gaza have been achieved a long time ago, and that it was time to return all parties concerned to the negotiating table without delay.

They demanded that Trump be a permanent ceasefire as a basic target of diplomacy, stressing their rejection of any forced displacement plans for the Palestinians from Gaza.

The letter was signed by Representatives Gregory Mix, Rosa Delaro, Jim Hems and Jimmy Raskin, and coincided with a visit by US envoy Stephen Whitkov to the region, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and visited a aid center in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

Wittakov said he spent more than 5 hours inside Gaza and met with officials at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and other agencies. He added that the goal of his visit is to give President Trump a clear understanding of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and that his visit aims to help develop a new plan to deliver food and medical assistance to the residents of Gaza.

For his part, the US President said that Wittouf holds meetings in Israel on Gaza focused on ways to enter food, and Trump stressed the need to feed people in the Gaza Strip.
