Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Avi Dichter called for military rule to be imposed on Gaza, while Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called for preventing fuel from entering the Strip and reducing humanitarian aid.

Dichter described the events of last October 7 as “a failure, a failure, a disaster, and a terrible flaw” for Israel, adding, “The fact that Israel was occupied within one hour on October 7 says everything.”

Dichter stressed that cooperation between the army and the Shin Bet in collecting intelligence information about Gaza had completely failed, and pointed out that Gaza should be controlled and a temporary military rule imposed there in order to achieve the goals of the war and talk about the next day, as he put it.

Ben Ghafir stipulates

For his part, Itamar Ben Gvir said that his party’s position of “Jewish greatness” is to prevent the entry of fuel into Gaza and reduce humanitarian aid.

He added, “Israel must declare humanity only in exchange for humanity,” referring to linking the entry of aid to the release of Israeli detainees in Gaza.

Ben Gvir stressed that his party wants the detainees to return, but it will not agree to a deal that threatens the future of Israel, as he put it.

In turn, Minister of Heritage and leader of the “Jewish Greatness” party, Amichai Eliyahu, repeated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements, saying, “We must stop providing assistance to them (the Palestinians in Gaza). We want them to crawl to us and beg for a deal.”

Ben Gvir had threatened to dissolve the Israeli government if it accepted a three-stage agreement proposal announced by US President Joe Biden last Friday, which includes a sustainable ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the reconstruction of Gaza.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left more than 119,000 Palestinians dead or wounded – most of them children and women – and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
