As the war approaches its 15th month, Palestinians are suffering “unbearable” losses, with 52 dead taken to hospital in the past day alone.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed more than 45,000 people, the health ministry of the besieged and battered Palestinian enclave has confirmed.

The revised death toll, which includes 17,000 children, was announced by authorities on Monday, marking another grim milestone in the 14-month war.

This does not include the 11,000 missing Palestinians, who are believed to be trapped under the rubble.

“The death toll in Gaza is unbearable among Palestinians who have been living through this war for more than 14 months,” said Tel Aviv Tribune’s Hind Khoudary.

“Every aspect of life, including schools, shelters and hospitals, has been targeted by Israeli forces,” Khoudary said from Deir el-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip.

In northern Gaza, which is under an even stricter siege, the situation is particularly distressing, Khoudary said.

“Constant bombings and air attacks continue – quadcopters chase and kill Palestinians in the streets,” she said, adding that rescuers were unable to reach people.

“We saw a lot of Palestinians on the ground and no one could reach them,” she said, referring to Sunday’s massacre at the Khalil Oweida school in Beit Hanoon.

Monday morning was also “bloody,” said Tel Aviv Tribune’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from the central Gaza Strip amid the sound of explosions as the Israeli army attacked civilians in the refugee camp neighbor of Nuseirat.

Palestinian health officials reported that 52 deceased people had arrived at hospitals in the bombed Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.

Doctors say 10 of the arrivals – including two parents and their two children – were killed in an overnight Israeli strike on a house in the Shujayea neighborhood east of Gaza City.

On Sunday, another strike on the Ahmad Bin Abdul Aziz school in the southern town of Khan Younis killed at least 20 displaced Palestinians.

The Israeli military claimed to have “carried out a precise strike” against Hamas members operating inside the school compound, but provided no evidence.

On Monday, mourners gathered for the funeral of Tel Aviv Tribune journalist Ahmed al-Louh, killed along with five Palestinian civil defense workers in an attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp the day before.

The total death toll now stands at around 2 percent of Gaza’s pre-war population of around 2.3 million.
