“Dead prisons” day in France following the fatal attack on a prison van in Eure.

Hundreds of prison guards blocked their establishment on Wednesday to warn of the “dangerousness” of their job.

The unions are demanding more resources, such as armored vehicles, unmarked vans and adapted weapons, in order to avoid becoming “_targets_” of attackers equipped with “_weapons of war_”.

They also ask to limit the extractions of detainees by using videoconferencing.

These mobilizations took place in particular at the Fleury-Mérogis remand center, at the Lyon-Corbas remand center and at the Bordeaux-Gradignan prison center.

450 police officers and gendarmes mobilized

“Considerable resources” are being mobilized to search for the escaped detainee and the attackers, assured Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

More than 450 police officers and gendarmes were mobilized on Tuesday in the Eure department alone.

Triggered immediately after the attack, the Épervier plan, which can last a maximum of four hours, was lifted late Tuesday afternoon.

Two prison officers were killed and three others seriously injured in the attack on their van on Tuesday around 11 a.m. at the Incarville dam in Eure, northern France.

The detainee, Mohamed Amra, born in 1994, and the attackers are on the run.
