The Ministry of Tourism in Syria has issued new instructions to control the rules of dress on beaches and in the swimming pools, the instructions that sparked controversy and different opinions on social media.
The Ministry’s decision to swim is determined according to the place where the person is.
But if the person is the well -off who go to the resorts and luxury hotels, then it is okay to wear whatever he wants.
The Syrians did not agree to evaluate this step, some of them welcomed the principle that the majority of Syrians are conservative families, and some of them rejected it from the principle of freedom, which was shown by comments on social media, which was monitored by episode (6/2025/11) of the “Networks” program.
Ahmed tweeted, “I mean, those with high income, they have the right to exercise their lives freely and wear what they want … and public morals and public taste are not suitable for those who have no limited income.”
As for Sanaa, she commented, “All our ages we praise the clothes of the sea (swimsuits), and as soon as it goes out on the beach, we wear a dress over it. In front of us, there are those who swim in clothes, and we do not interfere with them and they do not interfere with us … so why are the intervention of the citizen’s privacy and his clothing?”
According to Tasnim Najari, “The law protects dignity, not taste … The role of the law must focus on preventing harassment, illegal photography, or infringing on the privacy of others, and not interference in the type of dress.”
For her part, Nada Sarkis commented, “Unfortunately … It is clear that it is the concept of freedoms for the new authority is not clear !! .. When my freedom does not affect you, you cannot prevent me … It is my culture and it is my environment with my definite and deep respect for the culture and environment of others.”
“I mean, I have completed the work, security, and the country is with a thousand good, and the hygiene happened and there is nothing wrong … the Minister of Tourism has no job other than what we want to wear.”
It is noteworthy that the decision of the Ministry of Tourism prevented men also to appear, converted to the breasts outside the swimming areas and the hotel’s lobby, out of respect for public taste.
The decision did not detail the penalties for its violation, to be applied until the end of the tourist season for the year 2025, with the possibility of reconsidering it after the end of the season, based on the positive effects or challenges that will result from it.
