Yesterday, Friday, Palestinian media unions condemned the killing of journalist Saed Abu Nabhan by an Israeli sniper’s bullets in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, bringing to 203 the number of journalists martyred as a result of the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza for the 16th month in a row.

The Gaza Media Office said in a statement that Abu Nabhan “was martyred by an Israeli sniper’s bullets while he was covering the press in the Nuseirat camp.”

The office pointed out that Abu Nabhan “used to work as a photojournalist with Al-Ghad satellite channel,” and he also worked as a collaborating photographer with Anadolu Agency, and he is married with children.

The government media in Gaza condemned, through its statement, “the Israeli occupation’s targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists.”

He held “the Israeli occupation, the American administration, and the countries participating in the crime of genocide, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing this heinous, brutal crime.”

The office called on “the international community and organizations related to journalistic and media work in all countries to condemn the crimes of the occupation, deter it, and prosecute it in international courts.”

He also “called on them to exert serious and effective pressure to stop the crime of genocide, to protect journalists and media professionals in Palestine in general, and in Gaza in particular, and to stop their murder and assassination,” according to the statement.

Palestinian Journalists Syndicate

In a statement, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate accused Israel of “deliberately continuing to target journalists in the Gaza Strip, to obscure the truth and cover up its crimes against the Palestinian people.”

She said, “The martyrdom of our colleague Abu Nabhan is part of the systematic targeting policy, which the Israeli occupation continues to implement against Palestinian journalists.”

She considered that “the occupation continues to deliberately target Palestinian journalists and media personnel, in a desperate attempt to obscure the truth and cover up its crimes against the Palestinian people.”

The union stressed that “these crimes represent a flagrant violation of international law and systematically target freedom of the press.”

The statement held the Israeli occupation “full responsibility for this heinous crime,” calling on the international community to “take urgent action to stop the continuing attacks on Palestinian journalists and protect media professionals from this increasing targeting.”

Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists

The Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists in Gaza also condemned “in the strongest terms the murder of photojournalist Saed Abu Nabhan, while he was covering the course of the Israeli war in the central Gaza Strip.”

The center said, in a statement, that it “renews its strong condemnation of the targeting of Palestinian journalists, which amounts to systematic crimes that are a flagrant violation of the principles of international law.”

He held “the Israeli government and the countries supporting it, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for the murders and targeting of journalists.”

The center considered that “these countries’ continued support for Israel contributes to the repetition of violations that are considered part of the genocidal policy to which the Palestinian people are exposed to in Gaza.”

He renewed “the call for the formation of an independent international investigation committee to investigate war crimes committed against journalists in Gaza.”

The Center called on “countries supporting Israel to stop providing material and political support that facilitates the continuation of these violations and to stop the approach of impunity.”

Palestinian Media Forum

In turn, the Palestinian Media Forum said in a statement, “On the path to freedom paved with blood and sacrifices, and in order to support the oppressed Palestinian people and convey their suffering to the whole world, journalist Saed Abu Nabhan died as a result of an Israeli targeting he left in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.”

He added that he “mourns journalist Saed Abu Nabhan, renewing his pledge to the souls of the knights of the Palestinian media who wrote with their blood for Palestine to continue their path.”

The forum denounced “the international silence and inability to protect Palestinian journalists and enable them to perform their professional duty in accordance with international laws and humanitarian conventions.”

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 155,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst disasters. Humanity in the world.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring two arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court on November 21, against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians in Gaza.
