China denounced the United States and Western countries, saying that these countries ignore the “living hell” that the Palestinian Gaza Strip is witnessing.

This was stated by the Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, who was responding to 15 countries – led by the United States and Australia – that yesterday, Tuesday, criticized human rights violations committed by the Chinese authorities in Xinjiang and Tibet.

This list of Western countries also includes France, Germany, Britain, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Japan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway and Sweden.

The ambassador described Western criticism as “lies,” adding that “the human rights situation that should receive the most attention in the committee this year is without a doubt the situation in Gaza.”

Awakening conscience

Fu said that if the death toll in Gaza was not enough to “awaken the conscience of some Western countries… then their alleged protection of the human rights of Muslims is nothing but the biggest lie.”

“Australia and the United States, among a few other countries, have downplayed this living hell, while launching attacks and smear campaigns in relation to once peaceful Xinjiang,” he added.

According to Reuters, clashes over China’s treatment of Uighurs and other Muslims have become a common event at the United Nations in New York and the international organization’s Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The United Nations stated in a report two years ago that China’s “arbitrary and discriminatory detention” of Uyghurs and other Muslims in the Xinjiang region may constitute crimes against humanity. The report said that “serious human rights violations” had been committed.

According to Anatolia Agency, since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a genocidal war on Gaza, with the support of the United States, which, as of Tuesday afternoon, left 143,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction. Famine killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
