Can the United States have an honest debate about Palestine and Israel? | Israelo-Palestinian conflict

In Congress, in universities, in business and in the streets, Americans are debating the future of the Middle East.

When the US Congress voted to censure the only Palestinian-American member of the House, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, it argued that she was “promoting false narratives” about the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

Reporters Ryan Grim and Katie Halper tell host Steve Clemons that if Congress can’t stand to hear different views on Palestine, it’s a worrying sign for American society as a whole.

Many Americans have been fired for expressing their opinions, and pro-Palestinian student groups have been banned nationwide.

But the debate continues as Israel’s war against Gaza rages.
