Can the UN Security Council stop Israel’s war on Gaza? | Israelo-Palestinian conflict

The UN Security Council has agreed to call for “humanitarian pauses” after a crucial vote.

After more than a month of incessant bombardment of Israel and for the fifth time, the United Nations Security Council called for humanitarian pauses as well as the release of captives held by Hamas.

Three permanent members with veto power – the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia – abstained from voting.

Israel rejected the resolution as meaningless and continued its bombings and ground attacks on the besieged territory.

So can the UN Security Council stop Israeli bombing of Gaza?
