The Wall Street Journal, quoting well -informed sources, revealed that the administration of US President Donald Trump began in early June, a comprehensive review of the contracts of “SpaceX” company with the federal government, which is worth billions of dollars, following the escalation of the dispute between Trump and the company president, Elon Musk.
The move comes just days after Trump wrote a post on the “Truth Social” platform, in which he called for the end of government contracts with Musk companies, in an attempt to reduce government spending.
A senior official in the Public Services Department asked the Ministry of Defense to fill in a sentence of all current decades with “SpaceX”, within what was known internally as “performance cards”, which also includes an evaluation of whether other competitors can carry out the same tasks more efficiently.
Despite public threats to cut ties, the initial review concluded that most contracts with “SpaceX” cannot be canceled due to its superior importance to the tasks of the Pentagon and the American Space Agency (NASA.
The report indicated that the company, which received more than 20 billion dollars in federal contracts, is occupying a pivotal location in American space capabilities, whether in missile launch operations or in space internet services via “Starlink” satellites.
The review also highlighted the dominant role played by “SpaceX” globally as the main provider of missile launch and space communication, at a time when competing companies suffer from technical delays and challenges in developing their technologies.

Musk had played a former role in the Trump administration, as he headed the “Ministry of Government Efficiency”, an initiative aimed at reducing costs and improving government performance. However, the relationship between the two parties deteriorated after Mask has publicly criticized the American president’s economic policies, especially the tax and spending law, which led to an escalation of personal tensions between them.
In the midst of this tension, Musk threatened to stop the operation of the “Dragon” Croo Dragon vehicle, which is the only American vehicle currently approved to transport astronauts to the International Space Station, which caused concern within NASA.
Government officials said that federal agencies expand their partnership with “SpaceX” due to advanced technology and competitive prices offered by the company.
However, the US administration, according to the report, is trying to stimulate competition in the space sector by redesigning contracts and pushing other companies to develop alternative solutions, although they still face technical challenges and great delays.
In the same context, the President of “SpaceX”, Gwen Shotwell, met with White House officials in recent weeks while the review was ongoing, with the aim of confirming the company’s commitment to its governmental missions.

Despite the dispute between Musk and Trump, SpaceX continued to harvest important government contracts. Last April, the company won a new contract of Pentagon with a value of $ 5.9 billion, including the implementation of 28 launch operations within the National Security Program.
It also launched an advanced satellite of the GPS (JPS) in May, and NASA is preparing to send a new crew to the International Space Station on a vehicle.
In addition, SpaceX expanded its work in providing the Internet to government agencies through the “Starlink” system, as well as providing national security services through its branch “Starchild”, who had previously obtained a secret contract with a US intelligence agency responsible for operating spy satellites.
