Can Israel turn its tactical successes into strategic gains? | Hamas

Political scientist Stephen Walt argues that unconditional U.S. support for Israel does not contribute to its long-term future.

Israel has been able to deal serious blows to Iran and Hezbollah, but no one should expect them to “suddenly want to make a deal,” says renowned political scientist Stephen Walt, professor of international affairs at Harvard University.

Walt told host Steve Clemons that Israel will have difficulty translating short-term tactical successes achieved in late September into larger strategic gains.

After a year of war on Gaza, direct hits between Iran and Israel, and a looming war on Lebanon, Walt says the United States’ unconditional support for Israel threatens its long-term future.
